What Information Should I Have
Available When I Call?
One of our medical assistants will ask you for
some basic information, including your name, weight,
and height. We will also ask you about your medical
insurance, so please have your insurance card available
then.

Will Someone Help Me Figure
Out if I'm a Candidate for Weight Loss Surgery?
After asking you height and weight, we will
use a BMI calculator to figure our if your weight is
in the range that qualifies you for surgery. You can
do this yourself by clicking
here.
If you have determined that your BMI is over 40, or
over 35 with one or more major health problems caused
by your weight, then you may indeed be a good candidate
for weight loss surgery. We will arrange for you to
meet with one of the surgeons from the Mount Sinai Program
for Surgical Weight Loss. Your surgeon will help you
to figure out if surgery is the right approach for you,
and which operation will suit you best.
