Weight Loss Surgery Operations
Weight Loss Surgery: One Size
Does NOT Fit All!
A number of different operations are
available to treat severe obesity. Each of these has
its unique advantages and disadvantages. No single operation
is right for everyone. When you meet with our surgical
weight loss team, we will help you determine which operation
is best for you. We will also help to determine whether
you are a good candidate for laparoscopic surgery (surgery
through very small incisions) or if you would be better
suited to a traditional open approach.

How Do I Determine the Best
Operation for Me?
To determine the best possible procedure for
you, we take into consideration several different factors:
how overweight you are, what types of food you eat,
and whether you have any particular gastrointestinal
problems such as colitis or irritable bowel. Also, we
work with you to identify any lifestyle concerns that
would make one operation preferred over another.
We usually prefer to use the laparoscopic approach
(multiple tiny incisions) for our surgeries, since it
results in less postoperative pain and faster recovery.
However, some individuals with specific health issues
may not be good candidates for this type of surgery.
This determination can only be made on an individual
basis.
